John McNab Watson Munro, wellknown British resident of the Islands, died at St. Paul's Hospital on Feb. 2 as the result of a stroke suffered the night before. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. E. G. Mullen, were held in the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. John followed by burial in the British cementery at San Pedro Makati.
Mr. Munro came to the Philippines from Scotland in 1911 to join the firm of W.F.Stevenson and Company, Ltd. After about a year in Manila, he was transferred to the Iloilo branch, where he spent a number of years. From 1915 to 1920 he was manager of the Zamboanga branch, and during that period also acted as British vice consul of Zamboanga. From 1929 to 1931 he managed the firm's branch in Iloilo. After the amalgamation of the company, now known as Hanson, Orth and Stevenson, inc., Mr. Munro became connected with the Asiatic Petroleum Company (P.I.), Ltd., in Manila and remained with this firm until shortly before his death.
He is survided by his wife, the former Margaret Chiene of Iloilo, whom he married in 1919, and by their two daughters, Jessie and Dorothy, all of whom are at present in Manila.
