Note

Born in 1882 was a wizard with figures and his friends would bet on him against and adding machine. He settled in Brisbane, Queensland and was invalided home from the 1914 - 18 war, badly gassed and with his health shattered. He drowned at newcastle near Sydney in 1917. he married Margarite Monica Howorth and was survived by three daughters, Dorothy, Audrey and Christine, who with their families live in and around the Brisbane area.

The eldest married Jack Catherwood. They are both keen bowlers and visited Edinburgh in 1966. I hope Dorothy will forgive a tale which is frequently told in our own family about the Australian accent of some of our relations:- after repeated references to the game of bowls it gradually dawned on us that they were not referring to their alimentary and intestinal functions!!
